Requested revision
Standard: | 802.1Q-2011 | Clause: | 22.1, 25.5 |
Clause title: | CFM shims in Bridges, I-tagged service interface |
Rationale for revision
It is currently not specified where the clause 8.6.5 "Flow classification and metering" and clause 8.6.6 "Queuing frames" functions are located in a CBP. If one would use the current specifications in clause 22.1.2 "CFM and the Forwarding Process" as guidelines for the CBP then the B-VLAN EISS SAP between the B-VLAN UP MEP and MIP functions and the clause 6.11 function would be the location for the clause 8.6.6 function. There is no other EISS SAP specified currently at the CBP, so no other choice is available. The clause 6.11 and clause 6.18, 19.2, 19.3 (BSI Multiplexing, MEP and MIP) functions would then be located below the Queueing frames function. This is not correct. The queues should be below these functions, as is the case for other bridge ports (e.g. CNP, PNP).
Proposed text
Add a specification of the location of the c8.6.5 and c8.6.6 functions to the description of the CBP functionality. It is assumed that the c8.6.6 function is located outside the BVLAN area; e.g. at the CBP ISS SAP located below the BSI Down MEP functions. It is assumed that the c8.6.5 function is located at the mid point between BSI Down Half MIP and BSI UP Half MIP functions. Specification could be added in a new clause 22.1.10 "Maintenance Points and Customer Backbone Ports".
Impact on existing networks
The revision text should not have an impact on existing networks.
