Rationale for revision
In figure 8-10, the TLV information string length field indicates that it should contain the value '4', but the actual length of the TLV information string, as shown in the figure, is '5'.
Proposed text
Change the figure to show: "TLV information string length = 5" Alternatively, perhaps the real error is the inclusion of the Chassis ID subtype field in the TLV format. There is no description of this field in clause 8.5.8, so maybe it was introduced in error. In this case, revise figure 8-10 by removing the chassis ID subtype field.
Impact on existing networks
An implementor of IEEE 802.1AB-2009 could implement the wrong TLV format (if the alternate error is the actual error). Miscommunication of system capabilities between peers could result.
