Requested revision
Standard:802.1Q-2012Clause:17.7.6
Clause title:Definitions for the IEEE8021-MSTP MIB module
Rationale for revision
In MSTP, all VLANs are assigned to the CIST by default and users may assign VLANs to other MST instances. The ieee8021MstpVlanV2Table read-only table maps VLANs to MST instances. ieee8021MstpFidToMstiV2Table is read-writable, but it is indexed by filtering database (FID), rather than VLAN. FID to VLAN allocation is done via ieee8021QBridgeVlanCurrentTable, which is a (partially) dynamic table. A user cannot configure the VLANs to MST instances mapping, if the FID to VLAN mapping is created dynamically, or if a VLAN was not assigned an FID yet.
Proposed text
Change the MAX-ACCESS clause of ieee8021MstpVids0, ieee8021MstpVids1, ieee8021MstpVids2, ieee8021MstpVids3 (pages 729, 730) to read-create, and use them for VLAN-to-MST mapping, regardless of VLAN-to-FID mappings. A similar solution is to change the MAX-ACCESS clause of ieee8021MstpVlanV2MstId to read-write, but this is inconvenient if you have to map a many VLANs, since ieee8021MstpVlanV2Table contains one row per VLAN.
