Requested revision
Standard: | 802.1Q-2014 | Clause: | 3 |
Clause title: | Definitions |
Rationale for revision
There are many definitions that refer to clauses of 802.1Q-2014 specifically, where they actually mean the current standard. These may have originated in amendments. It is wrong to refer to the current standard by its year designation both because it is unnecessary and because it creates a maintenance nightmare. There are of course exceptions, including 3.238. .
Proposed text
In the following definitions, remove the words "of IEEE Std 802.1Q-2014". 3.23, 3.31, 3.55, 3.149, 3.191, 3.195, 3.199, 3.227, 3.250, 3.254, 3.277, 3.278, 3.291. In 3.238, change "For IEEE Std 802.1Q-2014" to "For IEEE Std 802.1Q-2014 and later revisions".
Impact on existing networks
