Requested revision
Standard: | 802.1Q-2022 | Clause: | 48.6.4 |
Clause title: | The ieee802-dot1q-bridge YANG module |
Rationale for revision
In the YANG module, the bridge address is read-write and mandatory.
This forces a config model to explicitly configure a globally unique
MAC address for the bridge. Historically the bridge address is a
read-only value allocated by the manufacturer and embedded in the
bridge. The proposed change makes the address read-write, but
mandatory-false, which allows a config model to provide an address
but does not require it. Not specifying an address in the
config model allows the bridge to use the address provided by the
manufacturer.
Proposed text
1) Delete the "unique address" statement in a bridge entry in the
bridges list.
2) Delete the "mandatory true" statement in the address leaf in the
bridge entry in the bridges list.
Impact on existing networks
No impact on existing networks, or existing bridge YANG config files.
