Requested revision
Standard:IEEE Std 802.1AC-202xClause:12.1
Clause title:Ethernet Convergence Function
Rationale for revision
In the context of preemption, the sentence "If frame preemption is supported on a Port, then the IEEE 802.3 MAC provides the following two MAC service interfaces." appears incorrect: If preemption is supported, there are two IEEE 802.3 MACs, eMAC and pMAC (cmp. clause 99.1 of IEEE Std 802.3-2022), each providing its own MAC service interface instance.

The text in question is located in line 29 on page 39 in draft version 2.0 of project of IEEE P802.1AC-2016-Rev, and originates from 6.7.1 in IEEE Std 802.1Q-2022.
Proposed text
Change
"If frame preemption is supported on a Port, then the IEEE 802.3 MAC provides the following two MAC service interfaces."
to
"If frame preemption is supported on a Port, then the IEEE 802.3 MAC sublayer provides the following two MAC service interfaces."
Impact on existing networks
None.
