Requested revision
Standard: | IEEE Std 802.1AS-2011 | Clause: | 10.2.12 |
Clause title: | ClockSlaveSync state machine |
Rationale for revision
The ClockSlaveSync state machine uses per-port variables from clause 10.2.4. For a multi-port time-aware system (e.g., a 802.1Q bridge), it is ambiguous which per-port global variables shall be used.
Proposed text
It is suggested that clarification be added in 10.2.12.3 as to which per port global variables are used in the state machine of Figure 10-9: â??The per-Port global variables used in the ClockSlaveSync state machine are determined based on rcvdPSSyncPtrCSS->localPortNumber, as follows: a) If rcvdPSSyncPtrCSS->localPortNumber > 0, the per-Port global variables of port number rcvdPSSyncPtrCSS->localPortNumber are used. b) If rcvdPSSyncPtrCSS->localPortNumber == 0, the values of the used per-Port global variables are fixed: 1) neighborPropDelay = 0 2) delayAsymmetry = 0 3) neighborRateRatio = 1.0â??
Impact on existing networks
There should be no adverse impact on existing networks. This maintenance item is only to clarify the specifications of 10.2.12.3 (i.e., the behavior resulting from this maintenance item is the intended behavior.
