2019-01-17 Jan 2019 Interim Discussed during the Interim and agreed that the issue needs to be addressed. It is not clear whether the IPG and preamble should be accounted against the current packet or the next packet. Received
2019-03-12 Mar 2019 Plenary The group discussed using the following text, "entirety of the frame, including any inter-frame gap and preamble of a subsequent frame. For example, in the case of IEEE 802.3, this would include the Preamble and Start Frame Delimiter". A fix is important here as incorrect implementations could be created. The fix should be put into Qcr or Qcw, whichever is faster, but Qcr is probably more appropriate. Qcr has already made changes to define frame overhead as a managed object. A fix that is consistent with the Qcr draft and addresses the current issue will be put into a future version of Qcr. The fix may not exactly match the agreed wording above and will be reviewed in the next draft of Qcr Technical experts review
2019-05-21 May 2019 Interim The change to Qcr was reviewed with the group and it was felt that additional changes to the text are needed to further clarify the timing and alignment of the media-dependent overhead. The following changes and actions where suggested: Replace the text in the second sentence of 8.6.8.4 as follows, "...entirety of that frame, plus the media-dependent overhead specified in 12.4.2.2, ..." Include an informative Note. The recommended text for a note is below - editor to adjust as needed "NOTE: For example, in the case of 802.3, the media-dependent overhead includes, the preamble of the following frame so that the close of a transmission window can coincide with the opening of another transmission window" The editor is encourage to include a figure to depict the timing and the alignment of the overhead as well. The development of the figure will be worked out between the editor and Don Pannell Technical experts review
2019-07-16 Jul 2019 Plenary Current change in D1.1 is insufficient and an update to 12.4.2.2 is needed to further clarify. Complete then Ballot
