Requested revision
Standard: | IEEE Std 802.1Q-2022 | Clause: | 8.6.11.3.13 |
Clause title: | MaxResidenceTime |
Rationale for revision
The statement "The parameter limits the duration for which frames can reside in a Bridge." about ATS is incorrect as can be seen in Annex V. Other factors (interfering traffic from other streams or closed TAS gates) may increase the actual residence time significantly. The description overstates the capabilities of ATS with regard to limiting the time that a frame can be buffered, as a later transmission is possible after the frame has passed through the ATS scheduler.
Proposed text
delete the sentence "The parameter limits the duration for which frames can reside in a Bridge."
Impact on existing networks
